ABOUT ME:
Hi there and welcome to After The Applause,
My name is Charlie Stewart an A level Student and young actor from Epsom —and honestly, theatre is kind of my whole personality! If I’m not sat in a London theatre (probably grinning like an idiot at the interval), I’m humming show tunes or scribbling down my thoughts for my theatre blog.
I am also an actor and have been acting since the age of 4. I owe it all to my grandparents for introducing me to the amazing Edinburgh Fringe and from there I have never stopped loving theatre.
I give you the lowdown on what’s brilliant (and what’s a bit pants), highlight those jaw-dropping moments, and share tips for true theatre buffs and total newbies alike. Fancy some honest opinions, a few cheeky recommendations, and a load of theatre chat? Stick with me as I dive into new productions and old classics—all through the eyes of your favourite teen theatre nerd.
Thank you for reading my blog and subscribe to get all of my posts straight to your email inbox!
WHAT IS MY FAVOURITE…
ACTOR– My favourite actor is probably either David Tennant or Matt Smith (people used to say I looked like him when I was younger). I look up to both of these talented individuals for their raw and emotional performances!
FILM– I really like the Elvis film from 2022, Austin Butler was so good. I have to say I have a guilty pleasure for The Greatest Showman as well
PRODUCTION I HAVE SEEN– I will never forget the National Theatre’s Treasure Island in 2014, it was just unbelievable to 6 year old me! In recent times though my favourite production is Inter Alia or Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby (Both reviews available now)
THEATRE?– I absolutely love the Olivier Theatre (NT) as well as the Donmar Warehouse, the Olivier is huge whereas the Donmar is more intimate. Very different but beautiful adaptable spaces!
MUSICAL?– Hamilton. I don’t think anything will ever beat it!
